Game Guide: How To Play Backgammon!

Did you know Backgammon is over 5,000 years old? This game is one of the oldest and best-loved board games in the world, still enjoyed by millions today.

You might recognise the iconic board design, but if you have ever wondered “what are the actual rules of Backgammon?” here is your quick guide.

Game Setup

Players: 2

• Each player chooses a colour and takes fifteen checkers.

• Arrange them as follows: two on the twenty four point, five on the thirteen point, three on the eight point, and five on the six point.

• Each player has their own pair of dice.

The Objective

Move all fifteen of your checkers around the board into your home area, then bear them off the board. The first player to remove all checkers wins.

The Rules

1. Roll the dice to start and move your checkers forward according to the numbers shown.

2. A checker can only move to an open point not blocked by two or more opposing checkers.

3. Once all checkers are in your home board, begin bearing them off by rolling the corresponding numbers.

4. The first player to bear off all fifteen checkers is the winner.
